We are pleased to invite you to attend the sixth edition of the Polish ITS Intelligent Transportation Systems Congress, which will be held at Mariott Hotel, Warsaw, on 13-14 May 2013. The Polish ITS Congress has already become an inherent part of the schedule of events in Poland’s transportation sector. The event attracts the attention of foreign observers and attendees, who look on it as an opportunity to promote their achievements.
Last year’s Congress was organised under the patronage of the leading institutions connected with the development and implementation of advanced technologies in the transport sector. These included the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Construction and Maritime Economy, the Mayor of Warsaw, the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways, the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Police Service, the Union of Polish Metropolises, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Infrastructure Committee. ITS Europe (ERTICO), too, provided its patronage.
The upcoming, sixth edition of the Polish ITS Congress will take place under special circumstances – in a situation where the implementation of intelligent transportation systems as parr of the first EU operational programme dedicated to ITS has been intensified. The programme has provided financing for ITS projects for a total of over half a billion zlotys, divided among ten Polish cities.
The sixth edition of the congress will also take place in the shadow of the largest public contract in the ITS sector in Poland, namely the national traffic management system, designed to cover all the motorways, express roads and selected national roads. This project is so important because it will undoubtedly set new standards for future ITS projects in towns and cities. At the beginning of 2012, preparatory work was intensified on, among others, the technical specifications necessary to standardise the process of preparing and implementing infrastructural projects using intelligent transportation systems. The entire ITS industry is definitely involved in this project.
